The new 6100 all-flash array from Violin Memory uses the same 19nm MLC flash chips as the bigger 6200 array, and offers three capacity options: 17.5 TB, 26 TB, and 35 TB.

The 6100 is based on the 1TB VIMMs that are rated at 500k mixed IOPS at 500ms or less.

Violin are offering pay as you grow pricing on the 6100, with software licensing on the NAND flash increments on each of the 3 capacity options. According to Violin, this enables the 17.5 TB to be under $100k US - and able to compete in the small-mid size space.

More details are to follow, for pricing and demonstrations of flash storage from Violin please contact your BSI account manager.
