For the first time, you will be able to buy Intel based Notebooks with Xeon based CPUs. Aimed at the power user, designer, developer, engineer or architect - the move looks to bolster legacy desktop/notebook sales.

Xeon's bring with them an impressive feature set for Notebooks; faster silicon, Thunderbolt v3, and 10Gbps USB-C 3.1 - not to mention 4K video.

The new CPUs will be from the E3-1500M v5 family -- based on the next generation 'Skylake' architecture, with vPro. This annoucement from Intel brings with it ECC memory verification, and a more 'laptop friendly' core count than seen previously with Xeon based Desktops.

The error-correcting code memory automatically detects and repairs errors on-the-fly that cause data corruption and system crashes for peace-of-mind reliability.

These new systems will also enjoy the benefits of the unique hardware-assisted security, manageability, and productivity capabilities of Intel vPro™ Technology. Mobile workstations featuring Intel Xeon will also feature Thunderbolt™ 3 – the USB-C that does it all. And if that’s not enough, Intel will also provide certifications for applications in computer-aided design and engineering, and digital content creation.

We anticipate further details from Tier 1 manufacturers, soon. Please keep this page saved for future reading.
