Intel announced an update to their Scalable platform on 24th February 2020. Intel have added a number of CPUs to the Cascade Lake SP range. The new 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Gold processors deliver an average of 1.36x performance increase.

Allowing up to 6TB of main system memory, and up to 15 cores per socket, the E7 v2 delivers faster IO - and increases the amount of data that you can keep hot.

Although unavailable until June, HP have 'pre announced' the new CPU availability in the Gen8 range. The new E5-2400 chips will be available in the DL360, DL380, ML350 and BL420c Gen8 servers, however full details are yet to be disclosed. On the Opteron chips, availability will be in the DL385p, and the BL465c.

Oracle have released 5 new servers in line with HP, IBM and Fujitsu's latest Sandy Bridge E5-2600 offerings. There are 3 rackable and 2 blade servers new to the Oracle lineup. Rather than hold a large press conference, Oracle hosted a smaller scale webcast exclaiming that the new servers are "the industry's best x86 plaform for Oracle applications."
