The server is packed with the latest HP innovative and intuitive hardware and software features. Hardware enhancements include the HP SmartDrive carriers, HP Smart Socket guide, HP SmartMemory, FlexibleLOM technology, "3D Sea of Sensors", the new embedded Smart Array P420i RAID controller, and more. Software enhancements include HP Integrated Lifecycle Automation, Dynamic Workload Acceleration, Automated Energy Optimization, Intelligent Provisioning, agentless hardware monitoring, and Active Health System.

The DL560 Gen8 provides 4S computing in a dense 2U form factor: It has support for up to four cost-effective Intel® Xeon® E5-4600 processors each up to 8 cores and 130 watts without system configuration restrictions.
Up to six PCIe 3.0 expansion slots (3 x16) support the highest performing option cards now and into the future.
The DL560 Gen8 provides 48 DDR-3 DIMM sockets for up to 1.5TB of Gen8 HP SmartMemory.

The HP Gen8 SmartMemory has unmatched performance, quality, manageability, and efficiency advantages above industry standards including up to 20% less power using low voltage RDIMMS with no impact to performance.
The DL560 Gen8 comes with the Gen8 embedded Smart Array P420i RAID controller with optional 512MB Flash Backed Write Cache. It has support for HP SmartStorage and HP SmartDrives and a choice of a very wide section of two 2.5-inch SFF SAS and SSD drives.
