To coincide with this announcement, Graphcore have released, with immediate availability, the world’s most advanced processor, the Colossus MK2 GC200 Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU).
The IPU is designed as an alternative to GPUs, disaggregating data intensive and highly parallelised processing from the CPU, where it is typically used for both training, inference and AI workloads.
The IPU-Machine M2000 server is Graphcore’s latest building block for AI infrastructure at scale, housing 4x MK2 GC200 IPU cards, capable of a total combined compute of 1 PetaFlops and up to 450GB Exchange-Memory in a slim 1U chassis. Building on this flexible modular design, there is also available the full stack IPU-POD64 appliance, which offers massive, disaggregated scale out capacity for thousands of IPUs, to deliver unparalleled accelerations for the most demanding machine intelligence workloads at supercomputing scale.
