Ciara Technologies release the dual node HF320D-G3, packing 2 accelerated single socket server nodes in to 2RU.

February 2016 saw the (long awaited) global release of the Ciara Technologies HF320D-G3 dual node server. Based on the 3rd generation of high frequency server, the HF320D packs two single socket 4.6GHz Haswell CPUs inside 2U.

The HF320D-G3 is based upon the single socket, 2U HF320-G3 system that’s long been available globally. The HF320D takes the same core acceleration technology from the HF320 and applies it with higher density.

PCI expandability is offered through either two PCIe Gen 3.0 full-height, full-length and one half-height half-length card; or one PCI Gen 3.0 full-height, full-length, double-width and one half-height half-length card. (Think, GPU)

We’ve seen an ~8 Degrees Celsius reduction in core temperatures. They’ve achieved this by re-engineering the cooling system in association with Asetek, and optimising the air flow through the chassis. The close loop liquid cooling is still cooled in the traditional sense; cool air is drawn over hot componentry in a front-to-back fashion. However, the socket is covered not by a heat-sink. Moreover it is covered by a pump, which channels liquid to a front facing radiator/fan assembly.
